BREAKING: Broncos Legend John Elway Reportedly Battling Cancer — The NFL World Rallies Behind a True Warrior...
The NFL world was shaken today as multiple reports confirmed that John Elway, the Denver Broncos legend and two-time Super Bowl champion, is battling cancer.
The news broke early this morning through family representatives and team sources close to Elway’s household — sparking an outpouring of emotion, support, and reflection across the sports world.
Elway, 65, is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in football history. His strength, leadership, and performance on the field helped transform the Denver Broncos into a championship-caliber team. Elway’s legacy continues to inspire generations of athletes and fans, solidifying his place among the all-time greats.
And now, the same resilience that defined his career is being called upon once again — not on the field, but in the fight of his life.
A Hero Facing a New Battle
According to early reports from The Denver Post and NFL Network, Elway was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer several weeks ago and has begun undergoing treatment at a medical facility in the Denver area.
While the family has not yet disclosed the specific type or stage of his illness, those close to Elway describe him as being “optimistic, focused, and fighting with the same intensity he once brought to the field.”
“He’s a fighter,” said a family friend. “John’s always been a warrior — that’s who he is. This is just another opponent, and he’s already game-planning how to beat it.”
The Denver Broncos organization released an official statement shortly after the news broke, expressing full support for their former quarterback and Super Bowl champion:
“John Elway is and always will be the heart and soul of this franchise. His courage, leadership, and legacy have inspired generations of players and fans alike. The entire Broncos family stands with him and his loved ones during this time.”
A Legacy Built on Strength and Leadership
John Elway’s journey is nothing short of legendary.
Born in Port Angeles, Washington, Elway rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most iconic quarterbacks in NFL history. Drafted by the Baltimore Colts in 1983 and later traded to the Denver Broncos, Elway quickly became the face of the franchise and led the team to two Super Bowl victories in 1997 and 1998.
His career was marked by incredible comebacks, clutch performances, and a unique combination of arm strength and mobility. Elway’s leadership not only helped guide the Broncos to victory but also earned him a reputation as one of the toughest quarterbacks to ever play the game.
“Without John, there’s no franchise as we know it,” said current Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson. “He built the foundation that we stand on. He is, and always will be, the greatest Bronco.”
Now, the same NFL that once watched him dominate is standing behind him in unison.
The NFL Reacts — “We’re All with You, John.”
As the news spread, players, coaches, and fans across the NFL took to social media to send prayers, love, and encouragement to the Broncos legend.
Russell Wilson wrote on Twitter:
“John Elway is the reason the Broncos are who they are today. A true legend. We’re all praying for you, John. Stay strong.”
Broncos head coach Sean Payton added:
“John Elway is the heart of this team. His legacy is built into the very fabric of this franchise. We’ll stand with him every step of the way.”
Even NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell weighed in, saying:
“John Elway’s contributions to the game are immeasurable. We wish him strength in his fight and thank him for the lasting impact he has made on the NFL and the Denver Broncos.”
Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald Sends Strong Message on Demarcus Lawrence’s Return

The Seattle Seahawks were thought to be a team heading into a transition period, with the franchise trading veteran quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders and Pete Carroll‘s successor, Mike Macdonald, still trying to determine how to lead the team moving forward.
Although there have been a lot of changes in Seattle, Macdonald seems to have this team firing on all cylinders, even with a new starting quarterback under center, Sam Darnold. The Seahawks are sporting a record of 3-2 heading into Week 6’s matchup on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The team may be coming off a three-point loss to Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the Seahawks have proven over the course of the first five games of the 2025 NFL season that they are a force to be reckoned with in the NFC.
Seattle didn’t have star defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence on the field in Week 5’s loss to the Buccaneers due to a thigh injury, but that will change in Week 6 against the Jaguars.
Seahawks’ Mike Macdonald Opens Up About DeMarcus Lawrence

After missing last week’s loss to the Buccaneers, Lawrence will get back on the gridiron this Sunday in Jacksonville at EverBank Stadium. Macdonald was asked about having his star defensive end back on the field against a resurgent Jaguars squad that has lost only one game so far this season.
Macdonald opened up about Lawrence’s impact on the team this week during a Seahawks press conference.
“He’s a really important part of our team,” Macdonald said. “He’s set a tone since he walked in the door. It’s on record on what we think about him, how he handles his business and what we think of him as a person. So it’s great to have him back on the field.
“Thinking about practice today. He’s made several plays today that we need to be able to make in order to give ourselves a chance.”
It’ll be interesting to see what kind of impact Lawrence will have in Week 6 against the Jaguars and whether he can help the team improve to 4-2 on the season.
Sam Darnold’s Ideal Opportunity With Seahawks

After an impressive season with the Minnesota Vikings during the 2024 campaign, Darnold chose to bet on himself once again by signing with the Seahawks to be Smith’s successor in Seattle.
Although it was uncertain whether Darnold could continue to be successful as a starter with the Seahawks, the USC product has played well over the course of the first five games of the 2025 NFL season. The veteran quarterback has been put in an interesting situation in Seattle, with Macdonald at the helm and so many changes on the roster.
However, he seems to be trending in the right direction, throwing for 1,249 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions. He doesn’t seem to have missed a beat from his success with the Vikings, which is a great sign for Seattle moving forward in the post-Pete Carroll era.
